Michael Kors started to study high fashion in the Fashion Institute of Technology in 1959 y 1980. He founded the brand when he was 21 years old. Between 1997 and 2004 Kors worked in his own company at the same time that he was the Céline’s creative director.

In 2001 the brand started to manufacture glasses. Eleven years later Michael Kors opened their first store in Madrid.
